A new popular feature in many phones natively built in Japan is now being in iPhones. After the terrible tragedy in Japan this year, Apple will add earthquake alerts in iOS 5 for Japanese iPhones; it's a new notification system for everything text messages to calendar alerts. Now users in Japan will also receive notifications of any earthquakes.

But the unfortunate limitation of these alerts is that they will only detect earthquakes around 2 minutes before the full force of the blast hits, so the person don't have much time to react but at least it's enough for him to take  immediate cover under a desk.


The alert will come similar to a text message, and it will alert as soon as the first signs of the earthquake are detected. All mobiles using this alert system feature a standardized tone, so the user know they are not just receiving a text message or email.
